A little drive.

Now that the G is going properly I decided to go for a little test drive. About 70km, from Bathurst through O'Connell to the Ben Chifley Dam then back to Bathurst where I got caught in the biggest down pour I have seen for some time, the wipers and demister could not keep up. The little G went great and returned 10.5L/100km which is around 27mpg.
The G will be finally attending its first All French Car Day on 16 July in Sydney, then at the 50th anniversary of the Gordini at the Shannons display day at Sydney Motorsport Park. Looking forward to getting it out there.

Its fixed!!!

Well the hunting problem is finally fixed. After all the so called mechanics and dyno tuning which all came to nothing I decided it must be something simple. So I had another play with idle jets and mixtures which again came to nothing. Again I thought "simple"
There is supposed to be a hose from the air cleaner manifold to the radiator panel which I have never fitted. I found a length of heater hose and put it in place and now the G goes so well and no more hunting. Think simple!

I never dreamed it would be so simple!

2017 Renault 4CV Muster at Griffith NSW.

Spent 4 days at Griffith at the 4CV muster. The G is still running like a hairy goat despite the so called experts fixing it. Where to go now? Not sure.
Morning tea at Grenfell.

Comfort stop at West Wyalong.

Ready to tour Griffith.

Parked with a couple of R8 Friends.

A couple of admirers.

With a couple of Alpine friends.

Attempting to get into the A110.

And out!

Karin fits well.

Finally got the G home (again).

Well the G has been away for 2 months being tuned and to rid it of the engine hunting. The hunting was caused by the 4 venturi's being loose. The 40 DCOE venturi's are held in place by a small clip and with 50 years of use they wear out. The air cleaner base did not hold them in place either so they were able to move back and forward as they pleased.
The 45 DCOE venturi's are held in place with a grub screw and lock nut so they don't suffer the same problems. Anyway the G is now running 99% better then before so that is a big plus.
A bit disappointed the Carburetor service did not pick this up when being rebuilt.

CARnival

I was to attend the CARnival Australia Day celebrations at Parramatta Park today 26/01/17 however not surprisingly the G is still sitting in a mechanics workshop trying to sort out the Weber issues. So instead we took our Jaguar XJC to Carcoar.
I really hope its right for the AFCD at Silverwater Park later in the year. Its been 12 months of frustration as the modern mechanic cannot fix anything without a computer port and computer to tell them what to do.

I borrowed the following photo's from Dominic Roberts RCCA FB post on CARnival.

Weber tune.

Today I took the Gordini 65km to Orange to an old time mechanic in Orange to have the Webers tuned and the car put on the dyno. Hoping this time the hunting can be finally fixed.
