Gearbox.

Took the G out today to warm up the gearbox, put it on the hoist and drained the mineral gearbox oil and replaced it with Penrite full synthetic race proven transaxle oil. Not sure if it has made any difference but time will tell. It is supposed to make the synchros work better.

A bit of a side note, it was very cold today so I turned on the heater while driving and I'm happy to say it works very well, the wife will be happy with that.

Clutch difficulties.

On the G's first outing I experienced some problems with the clutch and gear changes. At times changing gear was like pushing the gear stick into a rubber wall. The clutch was making a strange sound when disengaging.
I have cured the gear selecting problem by changing the 2 rubber blocks on the selector arm to gearbox for smaller ones. These are smaller in height and stiffer so gear changes are more precise.

As for the clutch noise I think that might be coming from the spigot shaft bush in the flywheel. If it does not quieten down it will mean an engine out repair.

Showing the different heights on the selector blocks.
I believe the taller one is for an R12.

First outing

The G's first outing was today where we attended the Bathurst Life Line Soar Ride and Shine at Bathurst airport. I have found a problem with the clutch and it was difficult to select 1st gear and the clutch was making a strange noise. I will look closer next week.
It got a lot of looks and there were quite a few people who knew what it was. Only Renault on the ground.
